VISAS

A foreigner traveling to Russia must have a valid passport with expiry date not earlier than 6 months after the date of visitor's departure from Russia and an appropriate visa.

To get a visa, an official letter of invitation authorized by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has to be submitted to a Russian Embassy or Consulate by an inviting institution (Institute of Applied Physics, RAS). Usually, this procedure takes about 3 weeks (starting from reception of the personal data indicated below).

The letter of invitation will be prepared for each foreign participant if he/she provides the Organizing Committee with the necessary information, following carefully the following list:
  • full name as per passport
  • date of birth (day, month, year)
  • place of birth
  • citizenship
  • passport number
  • date of issue
  • passport expiry date
  • place of employment (full name, address, tel., fax)
  •  position
  • dates of stay in Russia (arrival/departure)
  • place of getting visa (the city where the Russian Consulate is situated)
  • copy of passport (pages containing personal data, passport number, expiry
date); scanned pages sent by e-mail are preferable; copies sent by fax are
accepted only if there is no opportunity to scan the needed pages
  • mailing address.

Preparation of the official invitation for obtaining a visa will be initiated only on receiving the registration fee.

To ensure that the visa is issued in time, the participants are strongly advised to apply for a visa immediately after receiving confirmation from the Organizing Committee that the letter of invitation has been sent to the indicated Russian Embassy or Consulate.

No other forms of official invitations to arrange the visa are valid.

Letters of confirmation about paper acceptance may also be sent if requested.
